Community Action to Fight Asthma (CAFA), California:
PolicyLink provides policy, advocacy, communications training, and ongoing assistance to CAFA, a consortium of four regional and 12 local coalitions that work to reduce environmental triggers of asthma among school-aged children. Trainings for CAFA have addressed topics such as: an introduction to the policy process; advocacy strategies; understanding lobbying restrictions for nonprofits; and communications strategies for education and policy change. The coalitions and regional centers are working together to determine state-level policy priorities, develop advocacy strategies, and put these strategies into action. PolicyLink also facilitates opportunities for peer learning and provides one-on-one technical assistance.
