Jessica Pizarek

Director, Federal Policy and Advocacy

Biography

Jessica Pizarek, Director of Federal Policy and Advocacy, stewards federal policy and advocacy strategies alongside her colleagues at PolicyLink. Rooted in PolicyLink’s commitment to Lifting Up What Works and building from equitable policy innovations developed at the local, regional, and state levels, Jess collaborates with colleagues and movement partners to engage leaders throughout the federal government to develop, implement, and iterate more equitable governing practices to address persistent structural racism and economic exclusion, and support a thriving multiracial democracy. With ongoing partnership and co-learning, PolicyLink and partners encourage the federal government to center the priorities of the equity movement in the design of new legislation; support program and rule design, implementation, and iteration within federal agencies; and expand federal funding for programs directly impacting low-income communities and communities of color.  During her time at PolicyLink, Jess has supported and led federal joint legislative campaigns with partner coalitions related to federal spending and the budget; racial equity action planning and standards setting with various government bodies; as well as policy development and campaign efforts for several major federal initiatives and spending bills. When her out-of-office message is on, you can find Jess and her pup, Clara, at the beach or hiking around the Bay Area with friends.
