Covenant with Black America

PolicyLink and The Covenant book series have a common agenda:  to present a suite of tools and strategies to help communities address challenges, ranging from healthcare to environmental injustices, from affordable housing to disparities in the criminal justice system.

With PolicyLink serving as consultant, The Covenant poses a series of questions-- “what can the community do?” and “what can every individual do now?” followed by answers like  “hold all leaders and elected officials responsible, and demand that they change current policy.” PolicyLink believes in Lifting Up What Works™. The Covenant asserts “What Works Now.”

Developed through a partnership with The Jamestown Project, The Covenant in Action includes a toolkit that contains not only traditional action strategies, but also innovative approaches to organizing and community building.

Angela Glover Blackwell, PolicyLink founder and CEO, wrote a chapter on Affordable Neighborhoods in The Covenant; is interviewed with in The Covenant in Action; and has a chapter in A Philanthropic Covenant, which features essays from African American grantmakers, scholars, activists and clergy examining philanthropy and how it affects Black communities.
