Sara Mokuria, Senior Associate, works on the Community Safety and Justice team on initiatives that promote safety and accountability without relying on policing, surveillance, and incarceration. She brings high-level experience as a community organizer, project manager, facilitator, and educator to the work. Sara is the co-founder of Mothers Against Police Brutality and a founding partner of Steward Cultural Development Group. Formerly, she served as Associate Director for the Institute for Urban Policy Research and taught high school in Dallas and Boston and at the University of Texas at Dallas and Paul Quinn College. Sara holds a bachelor’s degree from New School University and two Master’s degrees from Simmons College. She lives in Dallas, Texas with her son and partner and is the reigning queen of April Fool’s Day.
