Biography

Selena Tan, Senior Associate, believes that communities of color have the policy solutions that lead to equity and justice. She leads the Racial Equity Data Lab and Fellowship where community advocates and leaders of color are supported to use data as a tool in their campaigns for community action, decision making, and holding policymakers accountable. Prior to PolicyLink, she served as a program officer at the Annie E. Casey Foundation and previously managed the Strategic Data Project fellowship at the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University. In her work, Selena believes in developing policy solutions and changing power structures to center the power-building of communities of color and queer communities. She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in education studies from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a master’s in public administration from the Maxwell School at Syracuse University. Selena currently lives in Baltimore, enjoys hiking and cooking, and is excited to bring her commitment to intersectional social justice to PolicyLink.
