Our Vision
After the United States of America was founded under the revolutionary idea that all are created equal, its Constitution invited us to bring its ideal to life with the words “We the People.”
Today, this promise remains unfulfilled. We see the consequences of a democracy that is not designed to deliver for all. Nearly a quarter of the nation is trapped in or teetering on the edge of poverty. Across all walks of life, people struggle under the strain of governing institutions that are not responding or rising to their needs.
It is our duty to transform our democracy and economy, closing the chasm between those for whom this nation has always worked and those who have yet to reap its benefits.
This future, one where all can thrive, is the nation we are working towards. In this flourishing multiracial democracy, all people in the United States of America will benefit from responsive and accountable governing systems and structures. All people in the United States of America will benefit from an equitable economy — with good jobs, dignified and rising standards of living, and increased voice, power and ownership. Everyone will live in thriving communities, where they can choose where they live, and find belonging and prosperity. Housing is affordable, transportation is accessible, and all people can access safe water and good jobs.
This work is urgent. PolicyLink exists because we firmly believe that this country is seeded with the aspirations, resources, and capacity to assure that everyone can thrive. But that promise is not self-fulfilling — it relies on We the People to demand it, shape it, and bring it to life. That’s why PolicyLink is not only committed to this potential — we are relentlessly focused on delivering results that reach the full breadth of the nation and its people. That’s why we are working to awaken a shared consciousness that embraces the humanity of every person; shape government to deliver results for all; and align the full force of our public, private, and civic resources to realize this future.
We invite you to join us as founders of a future that has not yet existed, but is ours to create: a nation that finally governs for us all.
