Homegrown Talent

A skilled workforce is the key to city success in the global economy. Equitable cities grow their talent pool through public education and workforce strategies that equip low-income children and workers with the skills they need to succeed.

The tools below cover three strategies:

  1. Career Pathways: Implement workforce strategies that connect un- and underemployed workers to good jobs and careers in growing industries, including apprenticeships and summer youth employment.
  2. Excellent Public Education: Provide high-quality education for low-income children and prevent school pushout, including quality preschool.
  3. School-Community Partnerships: Provide comprehensive cradle-to-career supports and integrated services to help public school students and their families succeed.
