Baltimore is launching programs to provide healthier eating options. They're trying to lure new grocery stores and expanding a system for low-income residents to order healthy food online for delivery.

Mayor Sheila Dixon convened a Food Policy Task Force to develop recommendations to increase access to and consumption of healthy foods citywide. The Task Force was led by the Baltimore City Department of Planning and the Baltimore City Health Department. These are their recommendations.

The Massachusetts Grocery Access Task Force was created to help improve access to healthy food in underserved communities. The Act FRESH Campaign, a public health advocacy effort, created a survey to gather input and advise the Task Force.

The toolkit was developed for the Delridge Neighborhoods Development Association and other organizations developing healthy corner store projects. This manual includes technical, educational and marketing information and templates for the project’s overall implementation and management.

A report that describes The Reinvestment Fund’s national Limited Supermarket Access (LSA) Study; a tool for understanding food access issues. It discusses prior research study methods, the steps in the LSA analysis, and the findings, including the areas of need, the demand and unmet demand for food.

Provides resources and support for communities that want to start new food co-ops.

USDA initiative to increase the number of farmers' markets participating in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) while reducing administrative burden of processing these benefits. The announcement is part of a larger and ongoing effort to provide low-income individuals and families greater access to fresh and healthy food, while supporting American farmers and local economies.
